One of those days

Wed May 22, 2013, 5:31 PM

Do you ever just have one of those days that either, piss you off for no apparent reason, or you're just so damn bored, you actually have to go in search of something to do or else you'd just sleep the day away? I'm having one of those days. It didn't start out terrible either! I'm not even sure I'd label it terrible, just that I've been thinking about all the things I need to get done/do and haven't.

Like the death of my ps3. I don't game all the time, but I do game and most of my tv watching apps are on that thing...like my amazon prime. It's not a big thing, I mean I watch any shows I miss on the internet like most people, but it's the fact that I now have to replace (a fat 60gb...refurbished...yeah I know...), what at the time cost me $325 (this is before they had the slim or slim2) with another one that's going to cost me $300. At least it has 320GB and it's a bundle. So I get a game and a free month of playstation plus with it. AND it's the slim (1st) version so it's won't hum like a leaf blower when I've been gaming for over 5 hours straight. I loose track of time like a lot of us.

I also got to thinking about the fact that I need to take my ass to the dentist so I can get a bridge on my back molars, this thus requires me to get myself some insurance. (i've been lazy since I canceled my last insurance plan) I also need to go get my eyes checked and get contacts. I can't take these glasses anymore!!!! I imagine that all that is going to set me back about $450 to $500 and it's just depressing. I don't have a nine to five job. I work off my art and make money that way. Thank god CQ hired me. It's nice to have a steady flow of money, but it keeps me busy doing 3 or 4 covers at a time in the span of a week and sometimes it take forever to get replies as I sometimes work with people waaaay outside my time zone. Like my 7pm is there 7am.

This then makes me stay up later (like 3 to 5am) and sleep all day, thus getting nothing done during the day. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful, but boy...

On top of this I was stupid and decided to bleach my hair. Now my hair was very dark brown to black and down to the middle of my back. I was smart enough to cut it, but apparently missed bits when I was bleaching, thus leaving me with patches of brown in the bright orange/blonde hair. 2nd turn around and the patches are gone, but now I've got bleach blonde bangs and the rest is a light orange. I knew this was going to happen. I did my research. It's a part of the process when going from black hair to blonde. So it didn't surprise me, but then again I'm partial to the orange. lol. But I've plans to take it to white and then put it pink highlights in my bangs. (they're side swept) But that's not the point, the point is after 2 week of deep conditioning and now with my hair back to full strength I'm going to bleach again until I get that white, to only get the bleach in the mail, but not have had the developer even shipped yet....wth...these were ordered at the same time. On top of this I'm anxiousness to get my new computer chair that's coming on Friday as the chair I got for x-mas now just sucks. The padding in it is worse than the other computer chair I had for over 10 years. That sucker had good padding that just wore down over time I guess. But it was one of those cheap ones that go to your mid-back and had no arms. This ones the same, except it has arms. The new one I got is leather and it's full back with arms and looks comfortable as all hell.

Now adding all this up over the span of a week and finally having nothing to do (waiting for a reply) I found myself thinking about it all and I realized I just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep until Friday when my chair arrives and possibly (my little spot of happiness) my knee high, pink stitched and pink laced canvas shoes that I've been drooling over for ages. (this is the part where I laugh maniacally)

Also to top it off, the season finale of Grimm last night sucked ass.

Y-e-a-h it's one of those days. Excuse me while I go curl up under my covers and sleep.

Sins Of My Youth

Wed Apr 10, 2013, 2:12 PM

Well I've changed my journal skin after all these months...I'm not sure I can say years. lol. Anyway a lot has happened since the last time I posted!

I was hired by Curiosity Quills Press as a cover artist, but I'm still doing freelance so you can note or contact about commissioning me. I'm always open. I am actually right now doing Camp NaNoWriMo which is this month. I'm only at 4,000+ into my goal, but that's a good thing as opposed to last November when I only had 700+. lol

I'm working on my Demon Chronicles story, Cold Burn.

I gutted my site and decided to use wordpress to show off my port. It's weird working with wordpress as I had to familiarize myself with it and I still am. It's rather strange. Anyway I got it back up and going. It doesn't contain all my work, but the ones I wanted to show off. As a port should show the things you like. I also have book reviews going on the site. I'm given ARC's for reviews so I put them up on my site too-- besides the other main ones like amazon and goodreads, etc'.  I've actually still got several sitting on my tablet waiting for me to finish them or start on them. lol.

Also my PS3 DIED!!! I was watch my guilty pleasure Breaking Dawn part 2 when it suddenly shut off and gave me the YLOD (yellow light of death)!!!! My first thought was: Whatever god or gods there be are punishing me for watching Twilight!! HAHA.

Well I went onto youtube (damn that things handy) and figured out how to get my disc out and even learned that there was a way for me to fix my PS3 without opening it. So I fixed the sucker! BWAHAHAHAHA HA!

The hardest part about fixing was actually getting the damn hard drive out! That stupid ass blue screw!!!! Anyways, it's fixed now...though I imagine it's only temporary, but I don't understand what caused it to die in the first place! I don't really game that often and I've lately, only been using it to watch tv online as it's more comfortable, then sitting at the desk and watching. But as it is, I may just get a new one as this is only a 60 Gig and the fan is not have a higher count blade and its hums like I'm running my hairdryer on high. So I'm forced to keep it practically in front of my vent or right under my window to cool it down. Depends on the season. I've only had it for...2...3 years I think. I don't remember. Anyways, before I complain about it more. I do believe I owe some people a feature or two.

Debacle?

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 3, 2012, 2:51 PM
You know what's sad? When I can place several orders on one day and have several of these be coming from China and get them faster than those only a state over...y-e-a-h. I wonder if people are just lazy when it comes to shipping stuff. TALK ABOUT SHIPPING!! I've had major problems with a x-mas gift for my Uncle all because the seller messed up my zip code. AHH!! lol. They were kind enough to refund me some of my money for the trouble. But I've since talked to USPS and they put an alert on it so the post office would see the problem and hopefully redirect my way. Talk about crazy two weeks! Even walmart was going wonky. I was waiting for tablet to be go from 'Processing your order' to 'Shipped' only to hear a knock at the door and see it's UPS with my tablet. :wtf: :O

Anyone else having or had crazy shipping debacles?

One more time

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 26, 2012, 9:56 AM
Sorry for the lack of anything from me recently except the basic interactions. My grandfather passed away the week before last and we were very close so I left the state at the drop of a hat. He was sick and wasn't doing very well when I got the call and he passed before I could leave. Needless to say I was with family all that week and just haven't felt up to doing much of anything lately.

I do owe two artists a feature as they were kind enough to donate some points to me. Thank you guys. :)

Over the Moon

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 16, 2012, 6:13 AM
Well it would seem I'm sick again since my last journal entry. It still sucks. Now I've got Tonsillitis. At first I feared it was Strep Throat as I had all the symptoms minus the stomach pain and fever. The first time I noticed was when I attempted to go to sleep and found myself unable to breath through my nose.(was nose wasn't stuffed at the time) My tonsils had swollen that big. Apparently my sore throat, which was never dry and itches like it gets, was Tonsillitis.
It's painful as all hell to even drink water! It's worse than that, trust me, but the rest is rather disgusting. Anyone whose had it before knows what I mean.
I've never been that sick even as a child. I've only had the flu twice in my life and the last time was the first time I hallucinated. (it wasn't a fun day)

Nevertheless, my internet was down last week and so I would have done this earlier, but couldn't.

A long way to go

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 18, 2012, 12:00 PM
Being sick sucks. I'm caught between a normal cold and a chest cold if at all possible. No heavy coughing just the need to cough like somethings at the back of my throat. Argh! I hate being sick.
I'm sorry for the lack of any sort of update on my part as I haven't been feeling to well since Labor Day weekend when my Aunt and cousin came to visit. We went to the Zoo and the Children's Museum. I hadn't been to the Children's Museum since I was little, so it was nice to go with my little brother and watch him light up at stuff there.  I took tons of pictures so look out for them on my stock account ~Colorkiller-Stock. I don't have much up there now save my cloud shots as I haven't had time to do any post processing (like removing the tree's in the cloud stock) on any new photos. I had to get a new tower and in doing so all my stock and own shots are scattered across several dvd's. I couldn't even use the Cintiq 22HD when I got it because it requires a DVI output and I didn't have one on my old Dell Optiplex GX240. I could have bought a new video card for it, but it was only running on 700+MB of RAM and I wouldn't have been able to use PSCS6 (which was part of the prize package) on it. So, ebay was a great way to get a high performance tower with a dual DVI output video card and a VGA output as well, running on 3 or 4GB of RAM (can't remember which) with a duo core. Hey it's a step up from my old computer. It didn't have duo core.

Anyways, before I ramble on any farther here's some great artist features!

NAPP/WACOM Contest

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 29, 2012, 1:42 PM
Much to my own shock I was emailed by NAPP about being a finalist and asking for my address and telephone number. I had completely forgotten about the NAPP/WACOM contest and the fact that I had entered it. Replying to the email with said information I sat at my computer thinking: "It would be kinda sweet if I had won. I'd probably scream." then suddenly the phone rang. (weird I know.) Upon answering it, I was told that they wanted to confirm my address first before telling me that I was the grand prize winner. I was speechless. I just sat there as he told me what I had won and finally I managed to open my mouth and ask which one they had chosen as I had entered two pieces. I was told it was my Steampunk Wonderland.

Nevertheless, once I got off the phone I did scream and jump around my room like a mad woman. And then proceeded to burst out in tears because my trusty little bamboo tablet had been freaking out just a few days ago and I had feared it was dying. I've had the thing for years.

I got it when it was new to Wacom and it's been great having it.

Before I ramble on I've already gotten my prizes and the 22HD is stupid huge. I've come to realize I'm going to need to buy a table for upstairs if I don't want to lug it downstairs where my cat likes to lay on everything. So, onwards to the other winners and their gorgeous entries and again I say Congrats to them!!! :joy:

Back in Time

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 23, 2012, 9:52 AM

Sorry for the lack of features on my part. I've been busy I'm afraid. I had a wedding to go to, and am now expecting family next weekend.
And I finally got around to painting the rooms upstairs. Got through 2 out of 3. The third ones gonna require 2 buckets of paint. blarg! Painting hurts the thighs especially when you don't have an extension rod for the roller. I was constantly up on my tip toes and then on a chair. lol. I was speckled blue several times over. I looked like a robins egg. haha. I've plans for the bathrooms and the kitchen, though it's just gonna be a back splash for the kitchen. Something simple.

Anyways, I'll be going to the Zoo here next weekend so I've plans to take a lot of photos. According to my family (when I was several states over at the wedding) I've become a shutter bug. I take photo's of everything. Makes sense considering I'm doing composites, (photo-manipulation) for a living. So, I'm off! Check out the lovely features!!

And in the darkness bind them

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 20, 2012, 11:37 AM
Yeah I've been reading the LotR books. I've never read them despite seeing the movies and am just now onto the The Two Towers. Anyways, I love it when I'm forced to switch browsers. T~T I was looking at a piece here and DA and the artist had linked to model she used and I thought nothing of it until I came across several manips from different artist linking to a models they had used all from the same site. So I got curious wondering what was going on and sure enough on Depositphotos where is a 7 day trial going on. Download any 5 res images each day for 7 days. Just need a credit card and can cancel anytime. Shit I signed myself up cause one of my favorite stock providers (Konrad Bak) doesn't put all his stuff on dreamstime and so upon attempting to browser the site I found out that it does not in what-so-ever terms like Opera 12, despite it saying that it's compatible. I don't have any other browsers on my PC so I checked through my Samsung Galaxy player and the site runs as smooth as falling down a flat sheet of ice on a hill. So I downloaded Firefox, as I had stopped using it back in it's 2 or 3.0 phase as it was slow as all hell and a memory hog, but sure enough BAM! Depositphotos runs fast as hell on there without trouble. It would seem that firefox as lightened its load and sped itself up.

But Opera has been running slow for a while now and I don't have any add-ons save adblock and a mail checker. That's it. Is anyone else with Opera having this problem? Well, now I'm off as my neck is killing me and so I leave you with some features!

Tick tick boom

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 26, 2012, 7:11 PM
Have you ever felt like your creativity took a nose dive down the crapper? I do. I mean I've worked on some pieces, but their all sitting there unfinished. It's strange that I can do commissions without a problem, but anything personal and it's like: "Ahhh---" DX I've been doing concept sketches and trying to work out ideas for a manip wallpaper that I've been meaning to do and though I've had several unfinished pieces pass through me I'm still left with an empty feeling. I come across these really great manip pieces and I'm inspired, but just nothing is coming out!! Arrggghh! It's really frustrating. I've got a project due by the end of the year and I know it seems far away, but I'd prefer to have it done and not have to worry about it, then to be scrambling to finish it and have it come out half-assed, you know? And on top of it I just feel lethargic and found out I've got this teeny tiny red ants in the cabinet under my sink! And there's only household chemicals under there. I mean DAMN!!! I had larger ones in my other cabinets. Got them sprayed only to have them show back up this summer for revenge!

On a positive note I got a new Tablet PC and found a good series of funny books to read and I made my own spoon ring. lol. If you've never heard of them before look them up on Etsy. I also bought one on Etsy too, so I'll be happy to get some packages in the mail later this week. I like getting packages in the mail. lol XD

Well I'm off to dwindle time away in photoshop.

Okay who's happy for the start of the new season of True Blood this Sunday besides me?! :evillaugh: I've been waiting for this! I'm glad it not going to evolve around the whole Eric, Sookie and Bill thing. I don't think I could take anymore of that this season like it was last season. Anyone read the latest Sookie Stackhouse book? I was expecting more...anyone else tired of the Eric and Sookie relationship going on in the books? I know I am. lol and I'm an Eric fan.

Still have my cold, but it's not so bad so I've found the energy to do some work. xD

Being Sick Sucks!

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 3, 2012, 8:35 PM

Sorry guys, I've been sick since Thursday. It's a rather nasty one and it's only gotten worse. What was a head cold has now today moved down into my chest. Truth be told I prefer  those to the stuffy nose. Coughing is better than not breathing IMO. People were calling and asking if I was alright because they hadn't heard from me for 3 days. I was just held up in my room. Talk about a Kleenex mess.

Strangely enough throughout this weekend I've found myself hooked on Glee. Which is just weird for me. I like musicals just as much as the next person, but I never watched it when it was airing and so I got to have a 3 season marathon of Glee. It's addicting and Puck is awesome! lol

If you've got any shows you think I should watch let me know, since all the ones I watch (Supernatural, Grimm, Vampire Diaries, Fringe, GoT) are over for the season or mid-season I've nothing to watch and now have to wait for True Blood I've got the time while I'm stuck in bed being sick. So hit me up!

The Particulars

Journal Entry: Thu May 17, 2012, 7:40 PM

Username change. I wanted just Dusk, but it was taken so it's a combo of Dusk and the last 3 letters of my name. So it's Duskria now. I was getting rather tired of Colorkiller. I've had it for years. Glad they did this, it was nice of them to add this onto the premium package.

Anybody got Photoshop CS6? Been having any problems with it? Everytime I try to use the SHIFT key and the mouse to expand or make a selection smaller it freezes and once I left go of the SHIFT key it crashes without any sort of error message. It's starting to get annoying. I'm glad I didn't uninstall my CS5.

Anyway onwards and forwards no?

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 27, 2012, 8:29 PM

In the last two weeks I've watched the original Star Trek. I've never seen it until now and let me say...this shit is addicting!!!! (yes it requires that many exclamation points.) I was already a Spock fan, but now it's a whole new ballpark sort of thing going on here. hahaha! I then watched Star Trek (2009) version and because of my fandom for Zachary Quinto I then moved on to only watch season 3 of 24, in which he's in. Then I started to re-watch Heroes. :D

Haha, needless to say I'm deeply entrenched in the original Star Trek. I even started work on a vulcan manip piece...I must be going crazy!

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 6, 2012, 11:42 AM

I rather disliking DA prints. I was thinking of getting a print with the 50% off they've got going on, only to find out they want to charge me over $2 in shipping when it would only cost them as much as a stamp. I mean really. wtf?! Talk about rip off.
Anyways, best to stop before I go any farther down that rabbit hole and dust my fluffy white tail (lol). Does anyone remember Ghostbusters? Well it might be strange if you live in the U.S. and don't, but they are finally getting around to making a 3rd! Yay! Though Bill Murray won't be in it. That much as been confirmed. Dan Aykroyd wants to cast Matthew Grey Gubler (Spencer from Criminal Minds) in a lead role. I nearly had a fit when I heard that cause I love the guy! XD It would be lovely if he did try out for a role. (Excuse me while I grin stupidly.)  Anyway, on to the features!

I was really kicking myself yesterday. I went out to the store and had for some reason in the back of my mind, thought I should take my camera, but decided against it, not wanting to leave it in the car considering the heat. Then as I was coming out of the store I noticed the rain clouds and the sky was beautiful. The clouds were back lit & the lighting was to die for. *insert kicking myself*
By the time I got home it was too late and all I had was heavy dark as all hell rain clouds and no sun what-so-ever peeking through. BLARG! Anyways, I'm hoping it will working out well today and we'll get some more lovely skies like yesterday.

On a stranger note, I had an odd dream about Dean from Supernatural, but I just can't remember it, but I have the vague recollection that he was saving me. Hahaha!! I must have been really disappointed about missing last nights episode of Supernatural to dream about him!

It was nice to wake up to it raining like mad this morning. I was aching for it to rain, but at the same time it's a good thing I took some shots of the beautiful clouds yesterday. I got a new camera on Wednesday and have been testing it out. I was surprised to say the least that this little thing took such great shots. I'm use to using my mothers Olympus FE-100 for my cloud stock that I use and it's only 4.0MP, this little thing is 14MP. Talk about a difference. Glad it came with a memory card. Only 4GB, but I've got another 4GB lying around. Still, great clear, sharp shots.  I imagine my neighbors think that I was crazy as I was out back all day yesterday taking shots of the sky. lol and I know they were watching me as I could see them sitting there watching their kids playing. haha.

Anyways, well I was thinking of sharing my cloud stock on another account, but I don't know. Either way onto the lovely features as it's Friday!
